Dual Panel Slalom Race

Dual Panel Slalom Race for Mental Health at Stratton, Vermont

A panel slalom scored ski race for USSA/VARA registered members hosted by the Stratton Mountain Winter Sports Club to honor Nathan Carreira’s (2003-2018) memory.

On March 16, 2024, The Stratton Foundation will be hosting the 6th annual #Shred4Nate memorial alpine race at the Stratton Mountain Resort, dedicated to mental health programs for children, schools, families and communities across southern Vermont.

  • Register NO FEE and agree to fundraise $100 by March 16, 2024.
  • A dual panel slalom non-scored ski race for ages U12 and over.
  • You will be asked to enter a credit card and agree to pay the balance due by March 16th. If you raise $100, then nothing will be charged to your credit card.
  • Each individual gets a swag bag and his/her own event bib to wear and keep.

#Shred4Nate was started in 2019 in memory of Nathan M. Carreira, from Ludlow, Massachusetts (March 12, 2003 - March 26, 2018), and an endowment was established in his name to support his Vermont community. Proceeds from the race support youth leadership programs through the Foundation’s partnerships with the Center for Health and Learning, mentorship programs with Big Brother Big Sisters of Vermont, and educational resources designed to build awareness, relationships, resilience and coping skills.

The Stratton Foundation cares about the health and well-being of youth across the region. By breaking down the barriers that stand between a child and education, children are given the opportunity to grow to become successful, independent adults. Now, more than ever, Vermont children need our help. Isolation, fear, uncertainty and depression are all impacting their overall health and ability to thrive. One in 4 teens seeking mental health services are experiencing suicidal thoughts. In the United States, emergency room visits for suicide attempts rose 51% for adolescent girls in early 2021, and statistics remain high for boys.

Through #Shred4Nate, the Stratton Foundation strives to reduce the stigma and lack of understanding surrounding mental health, spread compassion and encourage those struggling to seek help. Join us as we honor Nathan and bring hope and healing to children and families across our communities.
