Celebrating Back To Back Podium Placement Feels Amazing!

It was an impressive team effort from all our racers at the second slalom race of the season held at Winter 4 Kids in Vernon NJ last night. When the race had ended, both the Sparta girl's and boy's varsity ski teams stepped onto the podium.

Eager to race again, our girl's varsity alpine race team skied determined and fast. The competition was close, but in the end, the girls won 1st place with a team time of 4:25.55; Tenafly High School finished in second place with a team time of 4:26.81, and taking podium 3rd was Mountain Lakes with a team time of 4:31.07. The Sparta girl's ski team gained 5 wins from the race. Leading the Sparta Ski Team to victory was freshman racer Madison Campisi who finished 7th overall, followed by Team Captain Claudia Calafati who finished in 9th place, then Cora Moriarty in 10th place, and Rylee Selsor in 12th place. All six Sparta varsity girls finished in the top 20 and received league race points. This girl's team has depth and they are on a roll.

The Sparta Varsity Boys Ski Team clinched 3rd overall with a team time of 4:18.05. Don Bosco won first place with a team time of 3:30.31 and Wayne Hills placed second with a team time of 4:01.91. This makes two races in a row the boy's varsity ski team has capture podium 3rd. Kanna Pasunuri led the Sparta Boys Varsity Ski Team with a 7th place finish overall, followed by teammate Drew Young (15th overall), Jake Koerner (18th overall), and James Kressman (22nd overall). The varsity boy's team picked up 4 wins and 2 losses.

Here are the team standings after two conference races: Varsity Girls: 9 Wins 2 Loss | Varsity Boys: 9 Wins 4 Loss.
